Hi! Could someone please explain the difference in the tiles labeled "T" and those labeled "PQ"? I apologize if this is a dumb question, I just don't think I've ever seen one of the "PQ" tiles.
Thanks!
Hi! Could someone please explain the difference in the tiles labeled "T" and those labeled "PQ"? I apologize if this is a dumb question, I just don't think I've ever seen one of the "PQ" tiles.
Thanks!
The PQ series began in 1995 and ran through 1997. There were roughly 32 tiles in the series and can be identified by the markings on the back. The PQ series had a smaller oval stamp (approx 2-2.5 inches across) and a label across the bottom that was plain black with lettering about Sid Dickens, Inc.
The T Series began in 1998 and, initially had a larger oval stamp (3.5 - 4 inches) and a label that had a bordering silver line around the label. The first 32 tiles were mainly repetitions of the PQ series with a few additions (and deletions).
In late 2001 the stamp on the back became the one seen on currently produced tiles. This is also when they began putting the labels with Sid's meaning of the tile on the back.
Hope this helps. For further info visit www.siddickens.com.
Thanks! That is very helpful. I've spent a lot of time on his website this week, but I must have missed that. I think I purchased my first 5 tiles in 1998, so that's why they are all T's.
I'm so excited to find this forum. I had no idea how popular the tiles were. I recently went on ebay to look for some and couldn't believe how much some of them were selling for.
Does anyone know if I need to worry about fakes? Are there such things out there?
I only have 10, but I am going to try to do a wall of 32! :)
Can't wait to chat with everyone!
Apparently we have been abandoned here. It appears that everyone has moved to either www.siddickenscollectors.com or www.sidcollectors.com, not sure which. The www.siddickenscollectors.com site is restricted access (who knows why, world security or something).
No, you've not been abandoned at all. But I know the reason that siddickenscollectors.com is registered members only....is so that people cannot post anonymously.
